You may notice that Manuka honey is more expensive than your usual runny honey. That’s because of a few factors.
There is a limited supply of Manuka honey as it’s only produced in specific regions of New Zealand where the Manuka tree thrives. Plus, Manuka honey contains high levels of methylglyoxal (MGO), a compound responsible for its potent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This unique characteristic makes it more valuable (and more beneficial) when compared to other types of honey.
A general guideline is to consume 1-3 heaping teaspoons of Manuka honey per day.
Remember, while Manuka honey is generally safe, it's always best to consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
