FAQs

How can I best encourage hair growth?

Firstly, try reducing the amount of heat you use on your hair every day. Constantly straightening, curling and blow drying (along with harsh hair brushing) can all be significant contributory causes of damage to your hair.

And whilst it may seem counter-intuitive, visiting the hairdresser on a regular basis for a trim, to remove split ends can actually help to promote better hair health.

You may also want to consider how often you dye your hair, as overdyeing can lead to hair damage, especially if you go lighter, through repeated exposure to harsh chemicals such as bleach.

There are a number of products you can use directly on your hair but one of the best ways to support your hair  from the inside, is by taking a supplement. Making sure you are in the best possible physical shape will be reflected in your crowning glory!

Which vitamins can help with my hair?

Healthy hair needs nutrients to keep it that way. Some of the best vitamins to support normal hair include vitamin A, a B vitamin called biotin, vitamin C, vitamin D and vitamin E.

Biotin helps to support the production of keratin, a hair protein which makes up the hair.

How do hair supplements work?

Hair supplements are usually available in tablet form and are designed to be taken daily.

They contain a formulation which uses vitamins and minerals that help to support the normal hair health.

Are there any vegan hair supplements available?

Yes – here at Holland & Barrett, we have a range of supplements to support hair health which are suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.

These include Starpowa Hair, Skin and Nail Gummies, Pretty Gorgeous Hair Gummies and Solgar Skin, Nails and Hair Formula.

What supplements should I take for hair loss?

Your hair may be thinning for a number of reasons. These can include heredity issues, hormonal changes, medical conditions and ageing, amongst others.

Hair loss can, in some cases, be due to a deficiency in some vitamins and minerals. You may therefore wish to take a dietary supplement to ensure that you are getting sufficient amounts of these each day.
