Using
hyaluronic acid, retinol and
collagen together is considered safe and shouldn’t cause any adverse side effects. These skincare ingredients are commonly used together and are generally considered compatible. In fact, many skincare products already combine them in the same formulation, as they may complement each other in different ways.
Prefer to do your whole skincare routine in one go? Make sure it’s in the evening, as retinol increases the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight and so should only ever be applied at night.9 So, your routine might look like:
- Hyaluronic acid (moisturisers/serums): can use morning and evening
- Retinol: typically recommended for evening use
- Collagen: any time of day
Though these ingredients are often used as a trio, it’s worth noting that there’s limited direct evidence specifically studying hyaluronic acid, retinol and collagen together as a three-ingredient combination.
